New authorities of the Doctoral School

Professor Krzysztof Walkowiak has become appointed the new Dean of WUST’s Doctoral School. The academic will begin his performing his duties on September 1. The Dean and Vice-Deans of the school received a positive opinion from the Doctoral Council.

After the election of the Rector and Vice-rectors, we learned the names of the Deans of WUST’s 13 faculties and then the new authorities of the Doctoral School. By the decision of the Rector Elect Professor Arkadiusz Wójs, from September 1, the position of the Dean will be held by Professor Krzysztof Walkowiak. Professor Agnieszka Wyłomańska will be the Vice-Dean for Doctoral Students, and Professor Renata Krzyżyńska hold the position of the Vice-Dean for Internationalisation and Cooperation with Industry.

Over 300 candidates registered, including as many as 104 foreigners. Now they will be interviewed, and the ranking lists will be announced in the first half of July.

The Doctoral School of WUST was established under the provisions of the new Act on Higher Education and Science. It is a completely new system of doctoral students' education, replacing the doctoral programmes, which will operate until 2023.

Currently, 152 doctoral students are pursuing their degrees there, including fourteen foreigners and 24 doctoral students under the "Implementation Doctorate" programme. The studies cover twelve scientific disciplines.
