Degree 1st cycle programmes  offered by the Faculty of Geoengineering, Mining, and Geology
The organisation of higher education in Poland is characterised by the division of the whole scope of knowledge into degree programmes. Degree programmes are established and discontinued by the General Council of Higher Education upon the request of universities’ senates. Moreover, the Council establishes curricular and staff requirements for existing degree programmes. The entitlements to audit, suspend, or discontinue teaching activity under degree programmes are held by the State Accreditation Committee. Since 2003, the Faculty has held an accreditation issued by the State Accreditation Committee.
The Faculty of Geoengineering, Mining and Geology delivers two degree programmes - Mining and Geology and Geodesy and Cartography.

Mining and Geology

Field of study oriented and specialist courses under the degree programme Mining and Geology are an interdisciplinary system of knowledge in the areas of mathematics, physics, chemistry, geology, environmental protection, management, economics, computer science, and sociology. Holders of diplomas in geoengineering do exceptionally well in all areas of economic, social, and research activity. Mining sciences, i.e. the technologies of detection, mining, and processing ores are based on geology-related sciences such as, most notably, mineralogy, exploratory, engineering, economic geology, and hydrogeology. On the other hand, strictly connected with mining sciences are environmental sciences and studies related to health and safety, geodesy and cartography, geochemistry, geotechnology, underground and hydraulic engineering, environmental engineering, mineral engineering, geoinformatics, mechanisation, organisation, and management - i.e. sciences that can be described as geoengineering. The interdisciplinary character of an educational profile develops the imagination and teaches one to look at things and phenomena in a systemic manner. Our students have many opportunities to put their organisational skills to test, as well as improve them, by taking part in various scientific, educational, and recreational undertakings organised by the Faculty.

Geodesy and Cartography

The educational offering of the Geodesy and Cartography degree programme caters to those interested in gaining skills related to modern methods of the acquisition of geospatial data and its processing or analysis. A graduate of the 1st cycle programme will be equipped with the knowledge of theory and technical skills necessary for highly specialised tasks commonly encountered in the innovative economy’s area dedicated to spatial information systems (SIP/GIS). Additionally, they will obtain the basics of the knowledge of management, indispensable for one’s functioning in the changeable business environment while being aware of goals and constraints. They will be prepared to effectively perform roles in task-specific teams. Also, they will be prepared for a master’s course, in which they will obtain additional knowledge and technical skills improving their creativity and skills in the field of designing SIP/GIS systems. Moreover, they will be able to acquire supplementary skills indispensable for their obtainment of professional qualifications, such as mine surveyor, as well as managerial competencies required in managerial positions.
