Polish Independence Day the 11th of November
It is a national holiday in Poland commemorating the anniversary of the restoration of Polish sovereignty in 1918 by the German, Austro-Hungarian and Russian Empire.
At the end of the 18th century, Poland ceased to exist for 123 years.
We celebrate the freedom that our grandparents and great grandparents fought for and for which they died.
We hang flags and we listen to our anthem. We go to processions, parades and meetings as well as patriotic evenings. We remember the stories of our great-grandparents about the times when people fought the partitioners and died saying: " I am Polish and this is my country".
