Welcome to WroTech!

More than 500 students from all over the world have just begun their journey with Wrocław University of Science and Technology. And it is with them in mind that a special video has been created, describing WUST’s functioning.

Traditionally, the University would hold an Introduction Day for all the new students – an event at which international students receive important information about WUST; watch presentations given by representatives of certain university units as well as by their peers from research clubs and student organisations; get acquainted with the Wrocław University of Science and Technology Library offer; and learn about security-related matters, presented by police representatives. This year, however, the COVID-19 pandemic situation we find ourselves in has prohibited welcoming new students in such a way.

- I wish I could meet you in person, but reality likes to surprise us -  says Prof. Arkadiusz Wójs, Rector of Wrocław University of Science and Technology. - But the fact that we can still be together, as an international community, shows that there is no obstacle that the human brain could not overcome – and this is what we teach at #WroTech!.

obcokrajowcy_2020.jpgAlthough the Introduction Day event could not take place in its traditional form, the International Relations Office team did not yield and prepared a special video for those coming here to study from outside our country.

-In other circumstances, we would have met our new students in person. But this year is unlike any other. Recent months have brought many unknowns in terms of possibility to move around the world, and above all – begin studying abroad - explains Anna Maria Rogalska, head of International Relations Office. - We understand that the first days at a new university can be overwhelming, especially now that face-to-face contact is so limited. Which is why we’ve prepared a short video showing how the University will be operating, what opportunities it offers and where to seek help. The most important thing, however, is to remember that we’re all together in this new reality.

This academic year, in the winter semester, a total of 152 students from 14 different countries all over the world will study at WUST under student exchange programmes (Erasmus+ and Student Exchange), majority of whom come from Spain (82), France and Italy.

Whereas 269 international students – from Ukraine and Belarus mostly, but also from such countries as Greece, Estonia, Germany, South Africa, the United States, Russia and Kazakhstan – are here to start full-cycle studies.

Also, as many as 88 people from abroad (representatives of Ukraine, Turkey and Belarus primarily) have enrolled in Polish and English language courses run by Wrocław University of Science and Technology’s Department of Foreign Languages.
