The Faculty of Geoengineering, Mining, and Geology has been distinguished in the prestigious "Mining Success of the Year 2025" competition organized by the Mining Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Innovation category. The award was granted for the development and implementation of the innovative conveyor belt diagnostics system, DiagBelt+, which enables monitoring the technical condition of belts without the need for disassembly.

The DiagBelt+ system utilizes magnetic methods and advanced data analysis algorithms, allowing for non-invasive assessment of the technical condition of belts used in mines and industrial plants. Traditional diagnostic methods have primarily relied on visual inspection, which does not allow for accurate detection of internal damages and requires conveyor downtime.

The new technology enables real-time analysis of the belt core condition, detection of damages, and classification regarding their suitability for further use. This allows mines to efficiently plan belt replacements and regenerations, minimizing costs and increasing material transport safety.

More details about the system and its applications can be found on the website: www.diagbeltplus.pwr.edu.pl

Award in the "Mining Success of the Year" Competition

The award ceremony took place on February 24, 2025, during a gala at the Silesian Philharmonic in Katowice, as part of the Mining New Year's Concert. On behalf of the Faculty, the award was received by Dr. hab. Eng. Ryszard Błażej, who led the implementation of the system at the Bełchatów Brown Coal Mine (KWB Bełchatów).

This distinction confirms that innovative solutions developed at the Faculty have a real impact on the development of the mining industry.
