On 13 May 2026, the Faculty of Geoengineering, Mining and Geology at Wrocław University of Science and Technology hosted a special event inaugurating closer cooperation between students and representatives of the industrial sector. The meeting was organised on the initiative and invitation of Vice-Dean for Education, Dr Eng. Karolina Adach-Pawelus (W6 PWr).

The event welcomed distinguished experts representing renowned companies operating in the geological and mining industries:

– Ms Iwona Hojnor – Chief Operating Officer of SKSM S.A. (Szczecińskie Kopalnie Surowców Mineralnych), a company that has been setting standards in the extraction and production of natural aggregates used in major infrastructure projects across Poland for many years.

– Mr Bartosz Wolak – Vice-President of Geoprojekt Szczecin, a leading company in the fields of engineering geology and geotechnics, specialising in advanced ground investigations for key industrial developments.

The meeting took the form of an open dialogue, enabling direct exchange of experiences between industry representatives and students. Participants actively engaged in discussions concerning the realities of working in the geological and mining sectors, expectations towards young engineers, and opportunities for internships and professional placements.

The event once again demonstrated the crucial role of cooperation between academia and industry practitioners. We are pleased to announce that the “Meetings with Industry” initiative – #W6IndustryConnect – will continue, creating further opportunities for students to develop their professional competencies and establish valuable connections with representatives of the sector.
