For the fifth time, the MEITIM II (Master Program in Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Technology Integration in Mining issued a course titled Entrepreneurship and Career Opportunities in Raw Materials Sector.
The partners of MEITIM II: Technical University of Madrid (UPM) (leader), Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (WUST), and Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT).
ABOUT THE COURSE
Most industrial sectors are facing a new era that requires companies to transform their operations, create new business models and foster a digital culture. In this context, the industry is facing a changing talent landscape, necessitating new skill sets in their workforce. Companies need to ensure that their staff are properly constituted to support this transformation process.
During the course, entrepreneurship skills and innovative thinking of engineers were trained using examples from the raw material sector. Case studies widened the understanding of skills and competencies of the future workforce and current trends of the industrial revolution.
The course was oriented to:
Introduce entrepreneurship and career opportunities in mining engineering. Familiarize with the primary sector of the raw materials value chain (geology, mining, mineral processing, metallurgy, and the environment). Enhance the creativity and innovation capacity of engineers. Improve the mindset of entrepreneurship.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Defining which skills and professional capacities are needed by students that will constitute the Engineering workforce in a few years is vital to benefit from technological advances and to contribute to the development of business in new competitive environments.
